This guide highlights selected resources from the the Maternal
and Child Health Library related to the ten health promotion themes
that form the organization of Child Health Day (October 1, 2007). Also
included are links to historical Child Health Day publications from the
U.S. Children's Bureau and to Bright Futures Programs.
Maternal and Child Health History
This resource highlights documents and reports in the Maternal and Child
Health Library that are related to the history of maternal and child
health in the United States and health services for children and families.
It includes links to federal MCH legislation, regulations, Title V program
guidance, and to other history collections.

This online directory is designed to help service providers and families
find available resources within their communities that can address child
and family needs.
Overweight
and Obesity: Children and Adolescents
This electronic guide presents resources about the prevention, identification,
management, and treatment of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents
in homes, schools, and communities.
Nutrition: Children
and Adolescents
This electronic guide presents resources that analyze data, describe
public health campaigns and other promotion programs, and report on
research aimed at identifying promising strategies for improving
nutrition and eating behaviors within families, schools, and
communities. A separate section lists nutrition resources for families.
The final part of the knowledge path presents resources on specific
aspects of child and adolescent nutrition: child care and early
childhood education, food safety, food marketing to children, food
security and nutrition assistance programs, and school-based nutrition
education and food services.
Oral
Health and Pregnant Women, Infants, Children, and Adolescents This
electronic resource guide points to resources that analyze data, describe
programs, and report on policy and research aimed at improving access
to and the quality of oral health care. Separate sections identify
resources on specific aspects of oral health including child care and
Head Start, dental sealants, early childhood caries, fluoride varnish,
K-12 education, pregnancy, and school-based care. A separate section
lists oral health resources for consumers.
Preconception
and Pregnancy
This electronic guide presents resources that analyze perinatal health
statistics, describe effective prenatal care programs, and report on
research aimed at improving access to and quality of prenatal care
and improving perinatal health outcomes. Separate sections list consumer
health resources and resources on specific aspects of preconception
and pregnancy: childbirth, depression, drug and alcohol use, environmental
concerns, fertility and infertility, nutrition, oral health, and tobacco
use.
NON-ENGLISH MATERIALS AND RESOURCES
This languages index identifies
resources written in many non-English languages, from Albanian to Yoruba. Select
a language to see a list of publications and organization resources. Readers
are invited to submit
new resources to add to this index.
MCHB FINAL REPORTS
The MCH Library receives electronic copies of MCHB Projects final reports.
They are cataloged into MCHLine® and
posted on the Final
Reports page.
MCH THESAURAS
The MCH
Thesaurus provides the MCH professional community with
a standard vocabulary that serves as a tool for indexing and retrieving
materials
in any
MCH research center, library, or special collection. The thesaurus Web
site provides an introduction; an alphabetical list of terms; a rotated
list of
terms; a set of subject categories; and a search function to search MCHLine® for
specific terms. A pdf version of the full thesaurus is also available.

The National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health (NCEMCH) at
Georgetown University has been awarded a 5-year cooperative agreement from
the Maternal
and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) to continue its MCH Library services.
